The Challenge

Due to our MD’s experience, working at Safeway Stores as Head of Creative and Studio for thirteen years, Tesco approached Redface to work with their Marketing teams to develop their in-house promotional sign-off procedures.

Rob, our MD who worked at Safeway Stores for thirteen years, helped to establish the Safeway Stores leaflet process, working alongside Marketing, Promotions, Trading and externally with Trading Standards. This set the standard for Retail national promotional leaflet production in the UK.

Working with a dedicated Tesco Marketing team, Redface managed the product selection and sign-off process. Working the leaflet proofs through the Trading teams on a weekly basis. Redface were able to develop a robust sign-off procedure.

Leaflet production

Once the  in-house process was establish a series of test briefs were issued to various creative agencies, one of those agencies being Red Face Design. 

Each agency sent their high resolution files to the Tesco designated printer, for wet proofing. Red Face Design was chosen above the other, much larger agencies to produce the Tesco weekly 4 page food leaflets.

After twelve months of successfully producing food leaflets, Red Face were asked to produce the Tesco non-food leafleting and then, a few months further on, we were asked to product the Tesco Telecom leaflets.

Over 15 separate product mini-sites were delivered ahead of schedule and on budget. The staggeered launch schedule enabled an initial round of amends and we were able to add the video element once they were completed by their respective markets.
